A silver streak in a grey sky ...

Yesterday, I was just about to leave the university and walked to the parking lot, when I heard a strange engine noise from above, growing louder quickly. Upon looking up, I held my breath, since what I saw, passing fast and low over our university buildings, was she:

I had read about Red Bull's owner Didi Mateschitz adding another classic plane to his collection, but the P-38 "Lightning" is something special indeed! AFAIK, not more than two or three are still flying worldwide, and now one of them is here!!

The sight was so great, that I started to jump and wave my arms, shouting "Yeah, baby!! " - much to the astonishment of some of my students passing by. I will have difficulties restoring my full authority, I fear .... but it was worth it!!!
