No smart watches in the foreseeable future
I was following the apple launch with interest, not because I am a huge fan, but the fact that they spend time trying to make the smart watch similar to a high end watch, especially the one that is going to have the gold case. This is where I think it will test consumers seriously - everyone knows that when we buy tech gear, a smart watch included, we don't expect it to last more than a few years. Go with a few versions of software upgrades and a degrading battery, it is only a matter of time before it is chucked aside and replaced with a new one. The Apple watch needs to go with an iPhone...and just like it won't work with anything below an iPhone 4S, it pretty much tells you that even Apple won't be supporting it beyond a few product launches and some upgrades.
Unlike a good mechanical watch with a gold case that we can use for our lifetimes and then pass it down to our children, I can't think of any reason of spending that sort of money for a gold smart watch. Doesn't seem like a smart move IMO.

IMO these watches are not there yet. The Apple Watch requires it be connected to a phone to work (at least that's what is speculated as of the press release). Just like you JerryW, I think I will be keep my AP on my wrist for a while! -MW

You hit same valid points about these gadget watches. One they figure out the battery I think it will sway a bigger interest. I almost got a Galaxy Gear 2 as you can root it and unlock it's potential but I'd rather have a regular mechanical watch on my wr...

The battery is one of the biggest problems with these wearables. The Apple Watch has limited function so it's power requirements are less. What they allowed the attendees at the big press release handle was a non usable device so it will be interesting to...
