Who does not like a good game... What first comes to mind for me is the Marine Diver. It was my first UN watch years ago, and I still love its design. My dream piece, however, would be different. I have patiently awaited a fully faithful ship's chronomete...  

As you, I'm wishing a Chrono Marine watch , with the classic, clean and sober design of the ship chronometer, like on your pic...With an innovative movement, conceived as a super chronometer... Wouldn't it be exciting???? I like your choice and answer!!! ... 

Don´t have an actual picture, but just one word. One perfect word... SONATA. White gold, blue dial and yellow hands with blued pointers, Sonata Cathedral Dual Time. I've lost so many sleep hours to this watch. IMO an absolute UN watch, georgeous and fully... 

Does this watch also sum, for you, your vision on this brand? Best, Nicolas...  

When I think of UN I immediately think in the Sonata. If I could only own one UN it would be this watch. Fisrt of all the alarm; unique in the market, but the truly UN essence lays in the details... The shape of the case, very nautical, and the hands and ... 

Best travel watch: GMT+/- no doubt Best alarm: Sonata no doubt Most innovative: Freak Dream watch(s) Trilogy with the Triple Jack close behind - but might have to settle for the Moonstruck. I must say that of everything that came out of Basel, Moonstruck ... 

And of course...L.U.D.W.I G! There are so many ways to spell U.N Genious! And with this brand, Genious is plural! I agree on your selection, I will just add that we have to give a special mention to Ding or ding dong watches associated with automatons... ... 

I clearly could have listed the Perpetual and the songfest of watches but chose not to because the UN list of pleasure is so long. I am in absolute agreement with you that the genius of UN is Ludwig plus others, most notably Pierre's apparent technical ex... 

I agree...I don't see any other Manufacture which offers such a degree of Innovation and originality. A kind of genial and unique madness, don't you think? As for the Moonstruc, if money is her,e yes, I will order it... I jsut want to see the platinum ver... 

certainly has been at the forefront for a much longer time. The visionary minds have lead both in practicality as well as uniqueness in their products at UN. I think that JLC has over the past couple of years has shown great promis in developing new and p...

Silicium Sonata. Definitely the loudest alarm to me. Limited and have the latest hot material in watch making. RG for me... May be it will be on my wrist in 12 months....

A Marine ( maxi or not ) Chronometer for the Tradition, and a sonata for the Originality / Innovation! Be careful, Daos, the more you learn about U.N, the moe you're addict to the brand... There are so many ingenuous and appealing watches... Some of them ... 

...is what comes to mind. The Freak is the watch that comes to mind first and foremost -- it is my dream U.N, but it may also be my only U.N. What I think about with U.N. is innovation. I love their innovative approach to many horological challenges, if n... 

The Freak was the first watch wich lead me to pay interest to U.N, in 2001! The Sonata was my first U.N. Then, I ended with 5...And I'm praying to be able to get my 6th..The Moonstruck! Best, my friend. Nicolas

interesting and modernistic design to most of their most innovative watches. I am struck by the technological beauty of the Sonata and feel that their esthetic is excellent on the dial work, modern and high tech but yet functionally readable. The perpetua... 

and my dream watch from UN is still the original Freak in PG or WG.

Complications, yes, but friendly ones, like the Perpetual Calendar GMT, the Sonata, for example. The Freak is a world apart, to me... The mother of all concept watches. So many watches to fall in love with! Best, Nicolas

my 2 dream UN's you know well enough. the Freak 1 and the Ludwig perpetual, a watch often forgotten as people only seem to mention the gmt +/-, but as we know the Ludwig was the first, from 1996, it has the lowest production run of 150 in YG and apparentl...

satisfaction one gets from such knowledge--exemplified in various other posts about "stealth" pieces. Of course, no one would ever characterize the Freak as a "stealth" watch! And I quite agree with your comments throughout this thread about this particul... 

i know exactly what you mean Tempus. where i live its wasted on the locals so i wear it for my own pleasure. even my family cannot understand me owning a watch that costs so much and that doesnt count the other 40 odd i own :) my parents grew up during th... 

The Freak is a U.N Star, indeed, but it doesnt have to hide the other treasures of this brand, such as the Perpetual Calendar, the Sonata, and the automatons / Minute repeaters, without speaing of the Astronomical watches, which seem to be a U.N Specialit... 

I haven't been to a local UN AD recently, but I'm hoping the next time I am there, there will be one in the display for me to try. I'm dying to see 2 things: a) how well the 45mm fits on my wrist since I used to have the smaller 42mm perpetual which was j...  

The 12 and 6 are awesome. I imagine on the wrist the feel would be great, hopefully not too light.

I also want to see if the strap is wider so hopefully UN widen the lugs a bit. If UN kept the lug width the same (I really hope they didn't) as on the smaller 42mm, comfort on the wrist maybe an issue IMO. Cheers, Anthony

I've collected watches seriously for about 12 years and without question Ulysse Nardin creates the most emotional connection for me. Why is this? I've long felt the company revival story, the original concepts and the interesting designs were very intrigi...  

I already knew you were an UN Lover, but at this point...No! You have a fantastic collection, my friend. Yes, I remember now that you were the happy owner of the Columbus Set, but I didn't remember you had one of the most exquisite watch, the Hour Striker... 

The ocean / beach The first watches that come to mind are those in the Marine Collection (Being the Maxi Diver my favorite) And as far as a dream watch I would have to say the Freak, of the WG Sonata Thanks for this great exercise, Nico! And, the one thin...  

I won't forget the others who contributed a lot to the re birth of the brand in the early 80ies. But Mr Schnyder is a " visionnaire ", indeed! About your selection of U.N Watches, my friend, it is just perfect! Best, and thanks for your contribution! Nico...

tried the rose gold version..... It actually was quite shinny and was closer to a yellow gold (the salesman insisted that it was the rose one) It looked very nice indeed but I would prefer the white gold one It is on my list..... Cheers

to be honest, most of the other UNs don't do much for me other than the freaks......

hi nicolas actually i have looked at more UN pieces since that post and i am in agreement there are definitely other nice UNs out there... but no more watches for me for awhile so its dangerous to expose myself to more lovelies. hope alls well with u. che...
