I happen to like all the watches you mentioned in your post!
The Malte Perpetual Chrono i believe is one of the most beautiful around. I like it above the 5970 and the latest current version. I also really like the 3970 and the 2499 but of course the 2499 is the price of a small home these days!
I really love the dial design of the VC version and the moon is to die for. I also happen to like both the gold version and the platinum and would be very happy with either. I am an owner of the 5059 and i think it is a wonderful watch. I do prefer the proportions of your 5159 but dont like the dial as much as my 5059, but each persons taste is different.
I am surprised that you need to sell both the 5159 and the VC Historique Chrono (for which I also have a soft spot!) to fund this purchase. I would have thought just getting a decent price for your 5159 would pretty much cover the VC....... and this is not my view of the relative current values, because I think the VC is incredible value when compared to other perpetual chronos, not just PP.
Love to see what you end up doing and of course please do posst lots of pictures of whatever you have!
