I saw both versions a couple weeks ago...

 

and at first I was surprised at how big the vintage one is. Then I was surprised at how similar the two were. They were the same basic design, but about 40 years apart in manufacture. The new version had nothing on the vintage model, same tight case, beautiful dial, really impressive on the wrist.

I should add that I live out in the boonies and have never been in an "AD" in my life. If it weren't for the NAWCC regional watch shows, I'd never get to see watches in the metal, other than what I buy. I saw a 5134, Patek dual time, broken right before my eyes! The owner wound it backwards and stripped the click spring.
