To go further in my thoughts, the Patek is the reference, here, in terms of world time watches. But I prefer the smaller 5110, or the enamel version, the 5131. Now, the Vacheron is just exquisite. A bit big in my opinion, for such an exquisite watch, but ...  

I fully agree, the Vacheron is the finest of the three by some margin. It would be a step up in my collection and unchartered territory for me. Is it worth the (Lange 1 or Patek WT) PLUS an Odysseus and an Offshore 43 to me? It just might be. It certainly...

By your description I wonder if the named cities on the Vacheron would always bother you. Out of these three I would choose Patek and a close second would be the Lange. Your description seems to point towards the Lange with the added benefit of your futur... 

Go for the Patek would be my advice The Vacheron, despite its numerous qualities, is too close in looks to a certain Montblanc to me

Then go for an Overseas Chrono instead of the Off shore. You might even save something to gift your wife, you'll get the excuse of a super deal you couldn't say no and you did for her!🤩🤩🤩

Re the problems of city names. I keep harping on about this but why don’t the manufactures let us customise just the city ring??? I would let the VC go in favour of the Lange or Patek. This stuff is emotive - best to leave the offending city name for some... 

The city names SHOULD be a joy. Last year, when travel of any kind was not happening, I took a lot of pleasure in using my 5110 to travel for me--I'd set it to Paris one day, Tokyo the next, Mexico the third. There are city choices on mine that disappoint...

Vogard. They made custom rings for some 500 Euro. Has to be said that those rings are outside the crystal and can be easily diy mounted (The picture show a standard ring - but cool if you're in Apia) ...

I would pick the VC but I do get what you mean by the addition of that one city. Have you looked at some other brands? Like Bovet, breguet, debethune ulysses nardin, audemar piguet, arnold and son, anderson geneve, ming, glashuette original, daniel roth a...  

I especially feel that the metropolis is an extremely underrated watch. Two really great watches that def need more love!

Based on how you describe your tastes, I‘d rule out the 5130 (which I adore) due to its size. Between the VC and the Lange, let your heart decide. Reading you, I think you already did. Which one makes you sing the most, imagining it on your wrist? I don’t... 

depending on the reference. I do see your point and from my recent purchases I have come to find out that I prefer Lange, Independents, etc...more so than I have with Patek in the past. Again, it just comes down to reference and what you are looking for.
