Maltese cross

Maltese cross mechanism is an idea. It limits the watch physically to using the part of the spring that is most linear in power delivery, presumably the beginning of the spring has too much torque and the end has too little, which affects the isochronism and hence timing. I think there might be various interpretations how it's done.

Not so sure about the other part.
