Honestly, I prefer movements that hack because I like to be able to set the watch to the exact time, but it's not a big deal to me either way.  


I see why many brands do not employ a hacking second watch.  The stopping of the balance wheel can stop it at any point in its rotation, also when the balance wheel resumes after being stopped, its consistency remains "wobbly" for a noticeable duration.  

I think the most important thing is that the brand does what is traditional to that brand.  If a brand usually makes watches with stop seconds, I expect them to continue making most of them that way.  Some brands used to make their watch movements with all large plates and with pocket watch architecture, many of the new creations from these brands seem to be leaving this.
