We may have to wait until he’s in his early to mid 30s to be ready to care for a machine of this fragility and value (which is when I was ready)
And by then I will be in my 70s…. But I will certainly get him or hand over an attractive entry level luxury watch for his young adulthood, if he does well in school and wants one. I’m not yet sure of how to go about this…. 🍻

I initially had the watch brought to running order by RGM in Pennsylvania. I think they did a great job — the dial was cleaned up just a bit and the watch ran and still runs about +5 secs a day. Thanks for commenting.

The Romans Rolex you gave your Dad is exactly like the Datejust my cousin Vic received . . .
. . . from his brother after graduating from college, except his has a white dial. After Vic married, his wife Doreen 'appropriated' the Datejust so she wears it most of the time now. A family that shares Rolexes together stays together, or so they say.
Ha ha ha!! Agree about the saying : "A family that shares Rolexes together..." Lol! This type of dial with Roman numbers is known today among collectors as "Buckley dials"...

Those to oldies belonged to my grandfather, and were passed to me by my father. He never wore them, always his Omega Seamaster.
