... those tomes somewhere in my basement. What a shame this mag closed many years ago, in the late 1990´s I guess.
I had the pleasure of personally meeting Mr Jim Auxier (one of the two magazine founders) in February 1966 in a Suburb of LA. I was just 17 years old at that time! A dream for me!!
You have the 1966 year bounding there. If you look at the August 1966 issue (if my memory doesn´t fail) , at the "Junior Fin Fans - Pen Pals" section, you´ll find a little article with my very young picture with Mr. Auxier and the lovely couple who wrote for the magazine sectio: Jean and Ed Dowd. (Ups! That was 56 years ago!!)

Used to swim in the coastlines of Sydney for hours on end, in the dead of winter. Took this pic today while exercising. Great theme! ...

Yes I do it often
2h swims in the open sea. Water temp was around 9 degrees celsius. I recalled a 6 degree celsius swim once. That was done in Speedos and no wetsuit. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

I have done it once in the Barents Sea at under 5 degrees but only after having been to a sauna and for a couple of minutes only 😂🤷🏻♂️

Had to gain 10kg of fat, and slowly acclimatize through autumn by dipping into the cold swimming pool daily for 30min, until the dead of winter, where the pool temp dips to 5 degrees on some mornings. The cold water pierces ones senses, and ignites a euph...

Used salt instead of snow. No snow here where I live. The only time I saw snow in Australia was when I saw frost on the pavement up in the highlands of Mittagong where I had a part-time job for a week. ...

It has started to form patina and accumulated a few dings on the bezel. Based on my usage, the patina looks like chimney soot (black shade). Quite interesting hue.
