The refurbishment took 18 months and a $120k to sort this car out. So a word of caution for those that want an old air cooled these cars suck up a lot of time and a lot of money. So purchase with caution. As some of you guys may remember I bought this car for my dad who has given my brother and I everything and has been a wonderful dad that I can only hope to be a fraction of.  He finally took delivery yesterday and these were some quick and dirties my brother took at pick up. Hope you guys like it.

And thanks for the reminder of why I am not a car guy! Too stressful and too much work!

My dad was a car guy growing up, and I got to witness it first hand haha

I remember we would find an empty straight away and he would look at me and say, are you ready? Right before he would punch it and I would be looking at nothing but blue sky as the front end would lift off the ground. Man those memories are the best.

Is the paint color Amethyst Metallic?

yes the exterior paint is amethyst with a magenta interior and the painted speedlines were added. So it's literally purple on purple on purple. MY brother said looking at dad you can just see a warm smile come across his face when they handed him the keys. That makes it all worth it.

Even better in person. The 30 years jubilee 911 was in that colour and I once saw one on the Autobahn. It took some effort not to get out of my lane while staring at it

I’ve been toying with the idea of diving into the vintage Porsche world, though I haven’t quite pulled the trigger yet. The 964 and 993 are the two models I’d seriously consider, but having grown so accustomed to my 991 and 992, I’m not sure I’m fully ready to make that leap. They are a time and money pit. SO you have to have the stomach for that. Also, these are worlds apart to the newer stuff. This car can kill you if you don't respect it. The new stuff it's hard to break it loose.

We weren’t kids - each being about 40, and we had just returned from driving UK to Spain and back in a Golf gti turbo (me) and an Austin Healey 3000 (him). The 930 did its best to kill us — as we went backwards into the gravel at 90 mph the threat was clear!

When the dust settled, he looked at me, I looked back at him, and without words we limped back to the pits and called it a day.

If that boost comes on in the middle of the turn you have to stay on boost to keep the back end from spinning around like a pendulum. Many people would catch the turn boost comes on, instinctively you want to lay off the throttle because you just got kicked with a lot of power on a turn but you have to keep the back end planted. I told my dad boost it on a straight away keep under 4500 rpm on the twisties.

I feel my brother and I would have been content being lazy but my parents really pushed us to do better and be better.
