and sometimes it happens on the longer run. The latter is of course more difficult to detect.
This style of watch, a beautiful understated classic (as I wrote here
www.watchprosite.com
) is certainly the one belonging to the second category.
By the way, this is the version (i.e. dial layout) that I prefer in the 5170 family: scale, modern and traditional, discreet, very refined... and the caliber CH 29-535 that I find one of the most interesting chronograph movement from the traditional brands.
Now, this being said, if it works on paper, it might of course not work in real life but I think that this 5170 is not the easiest one to like. Thus, it may need a little time as all depends on what is important for you in a watch. The fact you have something that doesn't shout and you're the only one to know how interesting it is, may be quite a very nice way to enjoy wearing a watch.
If you can refund it 100%, then you may think about it right now but otherwise, I think you should wait to settle down and see if it finally doesn't fill the right spot for you in the end.
I already posted pictures of the 5159 in the past and expressed my very positive opinion on it. It is very charming, with a quite unique look in today's offer, and a great complication, especially in Patek's history. The retrograde date is also a very nice cherry on the cake and the movement looks marvelous with the case back open.
These are some ideas that I hope will help
