The reference 5500 also known as the Pagoda - not tone mixed up with the original Pagoda ref 1593 was released in 1997 by P ate to celebrate the opening of their con]mbined watch making facilities at Plan les Oates. It was released in 3 metals YG 1100 WG 250 and plat 150. The movement was the cal 215. After release together with a special box , medallion and certificate , the original old was destroyed so it could never be replicated again

For some reason it has never been a financial success for collector ( available for little more than retail 25 years ago )but it I think it is a wonderful watch with lines and curves , Enjoy

Yes, there is also a white gold with salmon dial which is worth some serious consideration...

How does it wear on the wrist given its rectangular shape ?
The two I have tried on felt kinda clunky on the wrist.

Size is 41mm x 28mm On a small wrist like mine it rides high . I prefer the fit of the original Pagoda ( 42mm x 25mm)
But it has a lovely curvaceous feel to it, less angular than the vintage Pagoda

Congratulations on owning this rare and unusual and beautiful watch! While in the minority I am a big fan of rectangular watches especially vintage ones
With the 9/90 movement. Also, the Pagoda which was based on the “Eiffel Tower”. Perhaps my favorite aesthetically is the RG although I like each variation. Best, Patekova
