Patek Philippe

Among Patek Philippe's recent releases is the Retrograde Perpetual Calendar ref. 6159G-001 which has a white gold case and a dial in gray metallized sapphire crystal. 

so my favorite here would be the Calatrava (but it doesn't fit my wrist very well, so I guess none of the three are for me)!

Although I've never seen one in person....

For me Patek trying to make the movement less small by putting the hobnail ring around it actually makes it accentuated. Plus 40h PR movement on 120k watch seems like poor effort IMO

but I like the case design here and the dial layout.

...as I am a big fan of hobnail bezels and the ref. 5050 retrograde PC. 

but the only thing that really bothers me personally is the size of the movement.

I really like the case design, though, and I even like the hobnail pattern on the caseback despite it being a trick to hide the size of the case.

But I don’t respond to smoked sapphire crystals: I much prefer solid dials, so this watch isn’t for me. I had the same feeling with the Lumen ALS models (Datograph, Zeitwerk, Lange 1).

I would rather prefer a solid dial. I like the seconds hand in the PC for more animation. In that case, the 53320G-001 with the cream dial from 2017 would be my pick.

in my opinion. Looks like Lange Lumen and what a dial.

and I agree with you concerning the comparison with the Lumen. But that’s the “problem” for me because I personally don’t respond to tinted sapphire dials. I much prefer solid dials. But it’s just my preference of course and this one is very well made.
So, if one likes “lumen” dials this is a great pick.

the SA just meant that I should be able to get one towards the end of the year... let's see. But I would buy it in a heart beat. They actually offered me the 5270/1R, they had it in stock. But I have a small wrist and the the watch with the bracelet is too much. Also I prefer white metals overall. I actually have a 5270G (019) as I love the blue dial. The 5270/1R was stunning though, beautiful contrast with the rose case and black dial

I've dedicated a thread to the variants of the 5270 & 5271 and there's no doubt that you G-019 variant looks splendid!

Your 5270 is definitely gorgeous!

i do not think (but i have not seen a lume shot so i can't be 100% certain) that the 6159G does not have the full lumen treatment as the langes do.

the 6159G doesn't have a Lange-style full lumen treatment.
But I personally don't like tinted sapphire dials, even with the full lumen treatment, so this watch isn't for me anyway (even though I like the case design and the dial layout).
Just my personal taste of course.

Will need to see it in person, but I am wary it'll be tough to resist.
