Hi all,
First world problems but I have a dilemma and hope some feedback from you all will help me!
I am trying to decide between a 5140r and the new 2025 model 6196p with the rose gilt dial.
They are exactly the same price (both pre owned)
They are both beautiful in their own way but not sure which one to choose…..
Which one would hold its value better if I decided to sell in future?

They are such different watches...
...both are lovely and 'top of the line' at what they do. Maybe it depends upon how often you would actually wear them...

I wouldn’t wear it that often as it would be more like a special occasion watch. Adjusting the 5140r each time might be a pain but perhaps the 6196p would be better for quick setting, winding and wear…..also draws less unwanted attention?This message has been edited by India Whiskey Charlie on 2025-10-17 12:25:46
IMO you should consider them from a different angle. For the same amount, consider
what you are getting. With the same price, would you want a PC or a watch with no complications ? Are you purchasing a watch you like or is this a pure investment for you ? If investment only, WPS is not the correct site to advise you.

no brainer, resale value aside ! 😇

The 5140R is a grand complication and is definitely better value now and will hold its value better too. But buy the watch that you love, the watch that suits your wrist and lifesyle. I was not impressed by the over hyped 6196P when I tried it on. The dial was a pale shadow of the 5196P even though the movement is superior. The 6196P only looks good due to Patek's weak offerings of late compared to a decade ago.

Thanks for your advice, very valid points. To me, the dial of the 5140r is quite beautiful as it changes shade when in natural daylight and then under strong lighting.
