I fell in love with it the minute I saw it on Tim Mosso's video. The blend of the case design, plus the magic of the dial finishing. From the guilloche to the font style of the numerals , and the effort taken with a shaped movement. I saw the original inspiration at the Patek museum last Nov...and the 5098 is certainly a true homage, but with the benefit of modern watch movement and materials, plus see through caseback.
Not easy to pick another great piece after that...but it has allowed me to start my journey with this legendary Maison.

I couldn't agree with you more when you say "not easy to pick another great piece after that": I have told myself several times since July that such and such a watch (for example the 5100, which I like very much) would not give me as much pleasure as this one.

platinum is an important part of this timepiece's appeal for me. Together with the other main features (guilloché dial, pear hands, Artdeco numerals, welded lugs, shaped manual caliber) it makes this watch absolutely perfect for me.
And, yes, this watch makes me feel a little bit like if I had reached Nirvana...

I got into Patek only after I fell in love at first sight watching a video on this 5098 reference. I guess because it just looked so different...I value craftsmanship, and this reference has a lot of that , for what I believe is still undervalued compared to what other models are offering for the same price or higher

As I recently wrote to Rishi (rishi_77) in another post, there are a lot of other appealing watches among which some feature major complications, but in the end the only thing that matters is what resonates with you. And it so happens that the 5098 resonates with something very deep within me.

At the risk of sounding foolishly grandiloquent, I have to say that this watch gives me the feeling of being part of a story that is much bigger than me and that spans the ages: simplicity, elegance, refinement, craftsmanship, creativity, all things that have the power to endure through the passage of time.
