I truly love all my watches for different reasons, but In not sure if I could consider any of them as the perfect watch for me. Still searching for it 😅

for himself is of course highly subjective.

The reason why this watch feels perfect to me is that it feels very special (shaped case and manual winding movement, guilloche dial, platinum case) yet understated. Also it’s deeply rooted in history and tradition (art deco aesthetic, pear hands, welded lugs) yet somehow timeless. Last thing: it has great presence on the wrist but it’s not big and the strap is narrow (17-14 mm), which is perfect for my small 16 cm wrist.

But I’m sorry to bother you with these personal considerations.

As you rightly said, this is all very personal and subjective. In my case, I really value what the watch makes me feel and the comfort on the wrist.

To be honest I'm surprised you ever manage to wear any of your other watches when you can have this one on the wrist. But I suppose having a short break from it every now and then brings back the joy of putting it back on again.

I've worn this watch almost non-stop since the beginning of July because it feels so perfect to me.

But I didn’t feel entirely comfortable neglecting my other watches, so I gave them some wrist time before returning to this one with great delight.

Turn it over and under the hood, it is powered by a totally modern, top end movement. By contrast, the Rolex Cellini Prince which you recently wrote about for me is an unappealing hodge podge. Being Rolex, I assume the movement is excellent but aesthetically, the watch is neither vintage looking nor particularly attractive. Just a misguided effort to recreate in some way, the magic of the iconic and exceptionally beautiful original Rolex Prince. Again, just my personal viewpoint, but …

Concerning the Chronometro Gondolo, I feel exactly like you: it's the best of both vintage and modern worlds. This watch resonates with me very deeply. Its century-old design evokes a past where elegance, exquisite refinement and a form of fantasy reigned supreme. And its creation only twenty years ago allows to contemplate a modern and reliable movement, whose architecture, with the lovely s-shaped center bridge, is a wonderful tribute to traditional watchmaking.
Concerning the Cellini Prince, I don't exactly know what to think. I have never seen one in real life and therefore cannot be sure of how I would feel. The only thing I know is that I find it delightful that Rolex has attempted to pay a modern tribute to its vintage Prince model. And, judging from photos, I find some charm to the Clous de Paris and the Godron Circulaire models. That said, I like the vintage Prince very much and would probably prefer them to the modern recreation attempt.
In any case, Rolex is not my main concern at all. The next thing I'm really looking forward to is visiting the Patek Philippe Museum again in a couple weeks. This will be pure joy.

I know that some find this watch old-fashioned or outdated and I understand and respect this feeling.
But the century-old design, which exudes elegance, refinement and a touch of fantasy, resonates very deeply with me.
