The 5970J is what I consider to be the most modern vintage iconic Patek Philippe of this the last decade.

But the 5970 in any colour is a very special watch......

...it doesn't matter because the 'R' would seem nicer after I bought the 'G' and vice versa. I already know that so my final choice does not bother me before, during or after the purchase. Warped, yes. But it works for me. 
That said, there are few watches that, in my opinion, look just as magnificent in any metal, with any apparel, in any occasion. The 5970, happily for you, is one of them.

If rarity of metal color plays a role, my opinion is that several years from now....
that J will be known as the most rare. A lot of collectors whom passed on yellow gold will wish they did'nt. My 2 cents.

Say for example why would this be the case when the 5970p was available from march 2009 untill my Ad received a letter in Nov 2009 stating that it was retired....Surely this must make the 5970p one of the shortest run of Grand Comps ever????? Or at very least equally as low numbers as the 5970j?

I am a W/G or Platinum kind of person.
But after seeing the J & R I would not like to say.
Although one thing is for sure, imo you are a winner, with whatever piece you are fortunate to have.
