I have been looking to add a Patek to my collection for a long time. But being very much a bracelet guy, it really limits my choices. I would prefer a little simple complication on my watches too and so set my sight on the 5712 and 5980. I just cannot get over the asymmetry dial of the 5712 but like the unique bulls-eye chrono layout of the 5980.
As I read here that the watch is quite big and thick, I feel the need to see and try it in person before taking the plunge. It took a long time for me to finally locate one at an AD a couple of weeks ago. The dial is sure mesmerizing but the bracelet is just too thin, too delicate for the rather thick case (to me at least). I feel that this thin bracelet is really made for the thinner 5712.
So what else is left to satisfy my urge for a Patek? I always like the modern looking 5146 too and after passing up on the Nautilus, I tried one on bracelet for the first time, and that seals the deal for me. I always worried that the gold bracelet will make the watch too heavy and uncomfortable to wear, but it isn’t a lot heavier than my all steel GO Senator Week.
I understand that the metal bracelet is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I just feel that it suits my lifestyle and humid weather where I live a lot better. And after wearing it for a week or so, I am glad that I have chosen it.
Here are my other pieces, all (except one, still looking for a bracelet for it) are on bracelet as you can see:

And congrats on getting your beloved 5070G too....sad to see your 5712 go.

I read your informative post on the idea of 5146 as an everyday watch too.
And I think the grey dial dress down the watch a little, hopefully the gold bracelet can be disguised as a steel one too.

What a lovely addition to your already very impressive collection. I know how you feel about bracelets, and this seems like a great choice.
Enjoy your new PP!

This also means that I have to pass up on the 'Pride of Mexico', which I feel would be too big for me after trying a few Offshores again on different occasions.

Goh,
The 5146 is a perfect watch, in my opinion. And yours on the bracelet is going to make you smile for years to come. I'm very happy for you!

I do not have any complain on the bracelet the very moment I tried it on.
The creme dial is very nice plus it is more legible too. I went for the slate dial simply because I am partial to darker colours and I feel that it dresses down the watch a little.
Congrats on your PP too.

Great First Patek Philippe.
It looks great, and I'm sure that you'll love the bracelet, the watch will be that much more comfortable to wear during the warmer seasons.
Enjoy your watch and tell us more about it after you've broken it in! The 5146G with slate dial is definitely a favorite here on PuristS!
I have always like this piece, but never bothered to try it as I thought the gold bracelet will make it heavy and uncomfortable.
Only when I have exhausted the options on the Nautilus, and it really eliminates my only one concern.
And I live just a degree north of the equator with tropical humid weather all year round.
Best,
Goh
That is a nice watch to make your entry with.
And it's a great everyday wearer.
I tried to wear watches on strap many time but it never quite do it for me.
So I only consider the ones on bracelet nowadays.

Hi Goh
Congrats, this one is also my dream watch, white gold in slate dial, classy but not too flashy. My worry with the gold bracelet is the spider web marks and scratches that it attracts over time. I assume gold bracelet is softer than ss bracelet, and even ss bracelet cannot avoid it. Or you can simply take those marks as a process of maturing. Maybe you can give us an update when you have more time with your watch. BTW, what is the price diff between the bracelet and the leather strap? The braclet lasts forever, should be a worthy investment.
Enjoy it!
Ivan
I don't worry too much about the scratches, but of course I try to avoid them as much as possible, and I feel it gives character to the watch.
The price different is huge - an top up of exactly SGD 30,000 for 5146/1G, and you get to keep the strap and deployant for the 5146G! That said, the discount offered for the bracelet version is a little more.

Bracelet or strap the PP 5146 annual calender looks stunning!! wear it in good health
