and why? Patek 5146g in dial cream or black??? Can't decide?

Grey looks more elegant and sophisticated for me. I will pick the grey dial between these two.

IMO the black dial looks more stylish than the cream color one

but based on my experience with a black dial watch, it is very difficult to read the time in darker places such as restaurants with dim lighting, bars, etc.

When buying a watch of this cost and calibre, you should not have uncertainty or indecision.  This is how post-sales regret happens.  Any of us who have purchased many watches in our lives have made a decision we regretted (and it usually started with not being a 110% sure if we wanted the watch in the first place).  I wouldn't ask a friend, AD or even my wife what I should get, esp a group of strangers... all you'd be getting is our personal taste, and you should never buy what you're not sure of, just because other people like it.  If I were you, I'd step back and keep looking.  Keep researching, and trying on watches.  Wait to find that one watch you can't sleep until you own, be sure, be damned sure...

I have second thoughts from time to time about not having bought the one with a grey dial but cream works for me...

Is that the original strap? Looks a bit light?

conservative than edgy. So, if I faced this dilemma, I would opt for the cream dial.

Personally, I like some of the different dials but I have also found I tire of them quickly. At this price point and coupled with the fact that changing dials is not necessarily an easy thing to do anymore, I would tend to gravitate to the safe side.

A cream dial gives the 5146 an even more classic look,

while the grey dial is more contemporary to my opinion.

It's just a matter of taste which one you prefer.

the 5146G slate dial wins, but in terms of classic & conservative look as mentioned by others then the cream dial all the way...though i'd pick a rose gold case for that one, just my opinion! Mine...

I was faced with the same dilemma recently and after looking at the pictures I was dead set on getting the grey dial.  I found an AD who had both in stock and went in to try them out.  The folks here have already commented on this - you have to try them out in person and it also depends upon your style preference.  I tried both of them on my wrist - even walked out in the daylight to see how they looked outside the artificial lighting in the showroom - I ended up picking the 001 (cream dial).  There was no question in my mind about the choice - the grey dial was just too hard to read and was too shiny for my liking.  The cream dial was classic, easy to read, and fit my style and skin color best.

While the white gold hands can be difficult to see against the grey dial (depending on the lighting), the lume in the hands is always visible against that background.  I was concerned about the same sort of thing with my 5056P, but found that the lume filled hands never get lost.  If the hands were solid white metal, then they might disappear sometimes..,

So I'd say grey dial is the way to go here.

The cream dial looks pretty nice on other PP AC watches, but for the 5146, I like the gray dial.
