I think I personally prefer the more rounded shape of the case (and its more compact size) of the first generation.

First generation for me is the best
generation so far, I like the case shape, the bracelet and the fact that after all these years the watch design wise holds pretty well, my only gripe is the date window, for me, a small date as an only complication ruins the dial, doesn’t matter its position.
I prefer the first generation personally: a bit less drama and more favorable proportions for my taste.

I also prefer the case shape of the first generation, but not the logo, date window or bracelet... If only we could have the best of both worlds!

But one is way too small the other way too expensive

But only considering the looks both are lovely
35 mm is small, but the presence on the wrist seems larger than the rated size would suggest.
But of course I understand why it's none of the two for you.

Tough call — normally I would gravitate to the smaller version —
But, in this case I prefer the salmon dial of the third generation versus the copper dial of the first iteration. That being said, I would definitely need to see them at hand.
Beautiful Vacheron Constantin Overseas but for me it would have to be the first generation that I would choose.
As I just find the look far more appealing and whilst I'm at it sorry but a 7.35mm thin watch is not Ultra Thin watch.

Overall, I prefer That, but I do much prefer the old style bracelet of This to the new, fwiw.
Visually, I prefer the later model.
The overall design to be feels more contemporary when you look at both the dial (and the dial furniture and text) and the bracelet.
Of course, in terms of size I’d prefer the older reference.
But the overall design carries more weight than the size preference here and so it would the later model for me.
I completely understand your feeling and a mix of both versions would probably be ideal.
