First off, I love the idea of the tourbillon even though it is a lot of extravagance (and cost) for a modest improvement in performance. That said, I love the idea of not cutting a huge hole in the dial, kind of why I like the idea of platinum watches. In both cases, they are 'hidden' luxuries. You, the wearer, know that it's platinum even though it will appear to most to be stainless steel. And until you turn it over and view the movement, a tourbillon will go unnoticed.
The caveats on these two are the same. If I could afford the tourbillon I would be happy to not have a minute repeater to go with it. I like the simplicity of one complication at a time. And losing the chiming function would slim down the cases considerably. I could also do without the word 'Tourbillon' on the dials. As with most superfluous writing on watch dials, I (the owner) know what I purchased. I don't need text on the dial to remind me.
