For me the Patek for sure, I find the AP a bit busy, but I do see it’s appeal.
I would normally choose the Patek too,
but surprisingly for me, as I generally don’t like the openwork aesthetic, here, I feel more attracted to the AP!

As much as I love and respect the complication,
there's enough going on with a QP that AP is a bit much for me so I'd go with the Patek.
I believe the skeleton calibre is 2120/2800SQ, distinct from the base, un-skeletonized 2120/2800.

Fantastic question! And one that I have been pondering.
I've been waffling over this very question lately.
I give the edge to Patek on this one. That says less about the AP, and more about the high regard that I have for the 3940. In my opinion, it is the platonic ideal of a perpetual calendar. I do not believe that a more successful perpetual calendar came before or after it.
However, the 25668 should garner more respect. Only 205 were produced across all metals, AP could only produce a small number per year because of the amount of work, and the AP perpetual calendar movement is special. The gold on gold has character in spades, and it is just such a special watch to look at. I am a real sucker for the font that AP used for the logo.
The only negative, in my opinion, is that the case is not as lovely as the 3940. I feel like the 3940's case is absolutely timeline. The AP feels like a watch from the 80s or 90s - whether that is good or bad that is up to you!
Between the two, you cannot go wrong.

Initially, I thought I would prefer the 3941J too. But after taking the time to contemplate the photos, I must say that I prefer the 4 subdial layout and, even if I'm usually not into openwork dial, something about this AP speaks to me, here.
But, as you say, you can't go wrong with either of these two watches.

The AP movement does not appeal to me
because of its handwork, I find it too rococo, but even this fact couldn’t make me choose the Patek. The dial side of the AP is such a class act, I’d probably get lost in it, it is so well done and it has so many minute details. I know just looking at it would give me so much joy. My choice between these two would be AP.

but, as you say, the watch is very appealing and I like this 4 subdials layout.

Generally not a fan of open dials.. Also, the AP doesn’t have a leap year indicator.. kinda tricky to set..
I understand your choice, especially as I'm not into open dials either.

Easy for me: AP
While I'm generally a sucker for a micro-rotor, I also have a major soft spot for the AP caliber 2120 and its derivatives. Add the engraving on the AP movement and the open dial that lets you see it from both sides, and teh deal is sealed. (Also, heretically perjhaps, not a huge fan of the dial layout on most PP perpetual calendars, this one included. Sue me. ;-D)
