Yesterday I was fortunate enough to examine the Grand Seiko 10th Anniversary limited edition SBGR037. It's a steel GS wristwatch with a guilloche dial and blue steel hands.
According to the owner, the movement has a new hairspring which is more shock- and magnetism-proof and an anchor which is lighter and generates less friction. Not much more detail is available on the movement changes because all the text on the Seiko site is in Japanese and even then it is extremely brief.
Like all Grand Seikos this is a simple watch but it is incredibly well made. The white dial and blue hands give it more wrist presence than its otherwise small size (36mm) would imply. Congrats to the lucky owner!
Happy New Year to all readers of the forum.

The DeBethune dial in its entirety is aesthetic perfection and sublimely pleasing!

I wrote that line in jest but clearly it was a poor joke. I also wrote Mycroft a PM explaining it but it somehow was not delivered, I have emailed him to explain it.

"Of course, if you wait another 6 minutes, this too may be gone! If this level of abuse of flippant policing and censorship is acceptable and tolerated by Forummers, so be it then!"
I disagree with the above statement vehemently. As I have explained in my post above, and as tempusfugit guessed correctly in his post, the statement was tongue-in-cheek but did not come across as such to some. The manner in which I amended the post was ill suited.
And Mycroft, you have known me personally for some time and because of that assumed familiarity I thought you would have perceived the statement as being what it was meant to be. If you still believe it was "abuse of flippant policing" then you are welcome to participate in another site.
But of course if your statement was tongue-in-cheek then all is well.

Quite a nice post--there are many lovely blued hands around the world of horology.

i'm just not a big fan for over advertising on the watch and the GS GS GS etc makes the watch look much cheaper than it deserves. everything else about it is exactly what i would expect from Grand Seiko, namely extremely high quality. i'm probably in the minority, but i'd rather have the 001, 003 or 005. something i may be planning this year.

...Al feels a little shy - those lovely watches are of his own making. They are "Archer Watch Co" pieces, handmade in Canada. Seems like the range is growing though! Here is a dress model:
Great watches, Al: always good to see. Thanks.
Cheers,
pplater.
These are 2 of the watches that I produce. The two in my post are ETA 6498 based, and the one pplater is wearing is 6497 based. The hands are heat blued and hands like this are one of my favourite watch features.
