You certainly remember that some months ago, I made a post about Polaris Straps.

It was the beginning of the quest of the " Holy Strap "...

I tried some color combinations, and here was the result:



It was the first step, as I said, and I made some observations.

1/ The Polaris is a thick watch, which needs a thick strap ( 4 mm ).

2/ As a tool watch it was, it needs a rough strap, not too elaborated, even if, on the 65, it is possible to consider a croc strap.

3/ Defintely, without stitching, it is even better.

4/ As for the buckle, things are more complicated, as I didn't already find the right one, but I have it in my mind, thanks to a good friend of mine with who we spoke a lot on this matter.

So, here was the first step:



On these straps, which have the big advantage to have a quick set system to change them, they look a bit too thin, and they have a stitching...

I ordered some others, and here is the stage 2:





The wrist test:





Points 1, 2 and 3 are solved, even if I will work on a stitching version, playing with the color of the stitching, but later...

These straps are a bit rough, some are distressed, but they show, in their simplicity, a certain elegance.

I chose several colors to play with the dial and indexes.

Some are matching or almost, some others are playing the card of the contrast.

Will work on one or two more straps, but I think I'm pretty well covered.

NB: A Tropic strap for summer, or for water activities, is the best as you won't damage it while wearing it under hot climates.

I will also try to take some better pics, those are quick ones, but I know your impatience!

I like the rough, thick strap with the '65 a lot -- it's a nice contrast and refreshing.  The colors on the '68 allow for some interesting choices in colors as you have shown. That dark brown/almost black is sweet!

we seem to have similar tastes in strap colour and style, just not in price and quality. both the stitched and non stitched pale straps suit the one with pale lume, the other one will take a large range of straps according to occasion.

That All the Super Compressor Watches have the same distance between the lugs ( 22 mm ).

so I can also put these straps on the Longines or on the U.G Polerouter Sub...

The interesting thing with these 2 Polas is that this is a watch which allows to play with straps, and specially the '68.

Things are a bit more difficlut with the '6(, as the dial is very classic, so combinations are limited.

The '65 looks great with almost any color strap really, but the burgundy adds a dash of whimsy and color that I like.  It has a lively effect on the dressier-looking '65.  While the pale beige is nice on the '68 I prefer the darker khaki because the caramel color enriches the lume, while the pale beige gives the watch a cooler aesthetic temperature overall.

The Pola 65 is more difficult to associate with straps, as the dial is very classic and elegant, and the strange combinatinos are to avoid.

With the 68, things are easier, indeed.

BUT, the most important, when you come to choose a strap, is to well know and understand the watch.

Then, the choice comes easier.

I still have to work a bit, but with these last straps, I got a very pleasant outcome.

worthy of the watch.

Witrh the croc and tghe sting ray, you dress it up, while, with the Tropic, you give ti a tool watch look.

...absolutely not. They were chosen simply because they come from animals

I wote for the beige distressed strap without stiching! Looks very good. I tried with a grey Nato strap, looks ok but I think the watch is to thik for a NATO strap. AFter summer holiday ois over I hope to post some pictures.

The problem with the nato is that you double the thickness under the case back, which makes it even bigger.

But what about a Nato without this double thickness???

It may be a nice solution.

Wow, is it just me or does this watch look like it's made for the tropic strap? Maybe the comfort level is so-so, but esthetically speaking this strap brings out the true character of this watch - and works very vell as a reminder of its roots in time and application
