This is the AP Royal Oak Offshore … 38 mm. What? An offshore that is 38 mm?

Yep, the ref 25807ST is the smallest offshore ever made. 1996 to 2000. Only 1,000 were made and it has a royal oak type vibe (especially with the steel bracelet) and yet more rugged. Blob applied indices.

Tritium dial. JLC Annual calendar movement. The two windows indicate the day and month. The white arrow indicates the date.

Symmetry is the key to this piece. Small seconds cross-hair machine turned-sunken sub-register at 6 o’clock.

Petite Tapisserie dial

A lovely neo vintage piece that is comfy on the wrist. Not so common to seen this piece in the wild.

Great watch, complication and size. You wear it so well!

Is 18.3 cm and this 38 mm seems to fit well.

Love the quirky mix of the Tripple calendar and the ruggedness of the offshore.

And also love that this is not seen very often in the wild. I’m shallow that way … 😄

I didn’t realize the dial was becoming tropical until I saw the pics myself.

I hope it goes to a nice even color of brown. This is actually a navy blue dial so quite interesting to see it evolve.

Type of paint used on the dial or the way the dial is made?

I know the 25807ST dial with it’s petite tapisserie is also made using a pentogragh and not stamped like the majority of the other offshores with the mega tapisserie.

38mm looks very good and balanced, hope they make some more in that size. And yes +1 to Nicolas, that patina in the dial is pretty awesome

Model that I quite like. Not so common to have an annual calendar in an offshore.

The patina-ing is quite rapid. 12 months ago, the dial was pretty much a solid navy blue.

And I hardly wear it too. So yeah 🤷🏻‍♂️

The dial is not busy and the small seconds looks very good and balanced.

I forgot to mention that the hands and the applied indices are white gold.

Little touches like that are easy to forget.

I read that the rotor is good as well but I haven’t opened mine up to check if that is across all the metal variants or just the gold 25807.

This one has never been overly popular, but who cares about that.  It is a wonderful AP.

Folks wanted big watches. The offshore was supposed fill that need and that why I believe AP had this 38 mm version for only for few years and only 1,000 pieces were made.

Fast forward to today where folks are trending towards smaller watchss and the relevance of the 25807 comes back to perspective.

I really like this model because its a mix of royal oak and offshore with a blue dial as a bonus.

The bracelet is hand finished and where most offshores are used with straps, this one pairs well with its steel bracelet. It also does not flare with the usual stuff plots of other models and comes straight down when needed for smaller wrists.

AP owned 40% of JLC at the time, so in some ways, this also had an in-house movement. The movement has 6 adjustments available to it which is higher than the chronometer certified 5.

The dial is the petite tapisserie dial which means it was cut on a pantograph machine rather than stamped as most other offshores are.

So yeah, as you say, a wonderful and quite an unusual piece than I believe many don’t know about.

That is a great size for the offshore! And a great looking Offshore with a complication I wish they brought back!

The 25807 is a Tripple date (complete calendar) and not an Annual calendar.

As for rarity, how many of the 25920 were produced? I’m curious to know as well.

I have only ever seen 3-digit serial numbers but have no source to confirm my 500 estimate.  Source: Sothebys and Collected Man

There was a dearth of this particular complication for a while now, and I hope one day they bring it back for a future piece!
