The month of May is a very busy time for connoisseurs of Chopard, aficionados of Automobile racing and Gentlemen in general.
Not only do they have to contest (or spectate) at the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique and the Mille Miglia race, they have to accompany luscious ravishing ladies at the Cannes Film Festival.
Faced with glorious pulchritude on the Red Carpet, what does an urbane, trendy man adorn himself with?
We have to fall back upon reassuring territory and choose Chopard watches...especially L.U.C timepieces.
At the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, Mads Mikkelsen, DJ Jack Guinness, Oliver Cheshire, Brendon Hartley and John Boyega chose L.U.C timepieces to adorn their looks.
Please tell us your Favourite...... either Watch or Actor would do
What does that say about you?
Of course, the ladies outperformed us in the Dazzle Department......

When will you resolve your "madness" for the watch?

When I was asked to wear brand watches when speaking at Collectors' Dinners, I had a choice of either using my own or loan watches e.g. Cartier, Bulgari, Montblanc, Carl F. Bucherer, Audemars Piguet, Piaget or Chopard, to name a few. Most of the time, I could wear my own watch. If a loan watch was needed, we usually came to a compromise based on personal preference, clothing and if it had a "good fit" with me. e.g. a Diver's watch may be pretty but I don't dive.
When it was a specific watch launch, I was forced to wear demonstration pieces because there were no production piece in stock.
I wore a Bulgari Octo to give a Launch speech in Manila, that had just returned from a famous American actor's wrist at a hot & sweaty awards ceremony the week before . I can testify that famous sweat is as malodourous as anyone's !
At celebrity events, the celeb may use his own watch e.g. Robert Downey Jr., Jose Carreras and Jacky Ickx have their own collections from brands they support.
Or they may be offered a selection usually with first picks based on their "seniority" or "hotness" so the hot celeb gets first choice.
See the nice blue dial L.U.C XPS chosen by Eddie Redmayne (or his dresser) when he was hot favourite for 2015 Oscar. It matched his blue tuxedo.
Brendon Hartley is the newest Chopard ambassador from the world of endurance racing with the Porsche Motorsport team. he has started a personal collection of Chopard watches that he wears in his own time as well as at Chopard events.
See KenH's interview with Brendon Hartley in Japan, talking about his small growing Chopard collection. [CLICK the link]
When I interviewed Jacky Ickx, he vouched a preference for steel or titanium chronographs instead of gold because of his lifestyle and previous profession.
The key point is that the choice of watch, whether owned or loaned says a lot about your station in life and that snapshot moment e.g. if Redmayne had not been an Oscar favourite, he would not have had the choice of the blue dial.
Don't you think?
So, if you were on the Oscar Award shortlist, what would YOU choose from the Chopard catalogue, money-no-object?
Does it reflect the "You" in you?

From some angles, even Julia Roberts looks "wonky" and not beautiful at all! (gasp; shock; horror; probe)
Others similarly afflicted are Jerrry Hall, Meryl Streep, Renee Zellweger, Drew Barrymore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Owen Wilson, Al Pacino, Nicholas Cage, and even Brad Pitt.
Yet they are considered 'beautiful people' .
I guess they are because they feel they are.
Empowerment is the most beautiful attribute, after all!
