TGIF!! Omega Flightmaster on my wrist.
Hello dear friends!!
Reference 145.013 with movement 910 from c 1970: the Flightmaster on my wrist today Friday opening my weekend.
Every watch in my collection has an story behind which is brought to me every time I wear them.
This Omega 910 which I affectionately call my “Friendship Flightmaster” is no exception and always reminds me of a very special friend.

Awesome watch in mighty fine condition! Came close to buying one of those once. My excellent watchmaker friend Dario had it for sale in his shop so I didn't have to wonder about the
condition of the movement.
Hello my dear friend B.! Yes, it is in great condition and it went trhough a long trip from Germany to California, then to Miami to finally fly to me in Buenos Aires all with the help of my good friend.
That`s a great story which makes this FM a very special piece in my collection which I enjoy so much to wear from time to time.
Nice to know that your friend Dario had one for sale. That would assure you that the movement was in perfect working order! It´s a massive watch with lots of character.

Yes, I’m Argentino. And living here puts some restrictions on what you can safely wear in certain places.
Eg: Rolex is a total no no if you wish to avoid an scary experience.
Anyway I try to wear them in my office or at home or in certain places which can assure some safety.

What a funky piece
Great you have been able to keep the case flanks that are so prominent in such good shape. A not common omega for today as well

Agree it’s a funky piece. This is a very 70’s/80’s design and this is part of its charm together with the dial patina.
The watch was in NOS condition when purchased and I wear it from time to time with much care trying to keep the case in the best condition.

The watch, especially the case and bracelet look almost as if new, not like a watch 55 years old at all! The watch came to you all the way from Germany in 1970, at that time deliveries between countries were much harder I presume, glad all went well. Have lots of fun with this Omega Flightmaster which has a great wrist presence!

The watch was found in Germany in NOS condition in 2019 by our dear Art (Dr.No) and he alerted me about it.
As I had lost my local friend and watchmaker of many years and had no one to open it and clean and oil the watch and replace gaskets Art offered to receive the watch in USA and took time and efforts to take it to his watchmaker who did the job.
The watch needed a service after 50 years sitting in a drawer without use.
When the watch was ready he sent it to my family address in Miami and I got it there in one of my trips to USA around June 2019.
That’s why it is a very special piece in my collection: its connection with a good friend.
I’ve been wearing it from time to time with much care trying to keep as much as possible it’s pristine condition. The watch has a beautiful brown patina on subdials which adds charm and enjoyment when I view or wear it.
Agree with you it has a great wrist presence and I enjoy so much wearing and remembering its story.

... of the paperwork to import the watch to the USA and later take it and supervise the watchmakers work with the service. That´s why I all it my "Friendship Flightmaster"!

Can't recall if I told you this at the time, Abel: when the Flightmaster arrived at US Customs . . .
. . . FedEx asked for my Social Security number to levy import tax. I had to apply online for a business Federal tax ID number to avoid putting my Social Security number into FedEx's data base. That unexpected turn of events added to the time required for releasing your 910 into my care.
Fortunately I already had the Federal tax ID when it was needed a year later for my Dornblüth!

Oh Yes dear Art! I remember that very well. I only made a summary of the long trip of the 910 to our friend Derreck as there were many other details around all the efforts and time...
... required to release the watch and once on your hands taking it to your watchmaker friend for the needing service and supervising it. (including some skilful paint art! Lol!) I`ll never forget the complete story behind my beloved Friendship Flightmaster!!

... image on its caseback it has always intrigued me as most articles about this watch say it is the image of a DC-8 but the tail (empennage) belongs to the early Boeing 707 with its characteristic horizontal antenna. So I always sustained it is a 707.
In any case it lacks the engine nacelles of any of these two famous airplanes.
What a beautiful Omega Flightmaster it's truly in stunning condition .
That dial is so full of character as is the case with the original finish still in such good condition so nice to see such a great example of this great watch. Wear and enjoy it in good health.

It is big and funky indeed but full of character, a timepiece which shows a very 1970´s style design I feel.
