Omega reference 2910-5SC with robust calibre 284 inside, (looks exactly like the cal 283 inside the ref: 2777 I own). Manufactured 1956-57. Bought a few years ago from local watch repairer, who sold up and retired. This was one of his collection of refurbished watches and marine clocks sold off. A BHS member, he wrote a great ,well illustrated book on the history and mechanics of clocks and watches, which I also bought from him.
Purists may not like this watch because the dial was expertly refinished by his outsourced refinisher. The case was sympathetically polished. So it sits brightly on my slim wrist. Sort of steel "Calatrava"! The age give-away is the seconds hand moving at 18,000 bph.
Signed crown but generic crystal. Nil water resistance. One of the dog screws was surprisingly missing from the case and the other one had some curious corrosion on its head. So I bought a couple of NOS from a wholesale supplier and fitted them. Keeping really good time; so far +/- 2 seconds per day since Tuesday. Was recently serviced by my new local repairer. The movement is in pristine condition but I forgot to photograph.
This watch came with a fitted authentic-looking quality generic black textured leather strap but I have fitted a spare Shell Cordovan lying surplus in my straps box as a very comfortable and plain, trial combination and with a signed pin buckle. I appreciate the strap is now unlikely to be authentic to 1950's, but I do enjoy wearing it.
HAGWE!
