For Panerai I prefer clean and simple. Bought a 372 when it first came out. Loved it but sold it to a friend when size started to bother me. Search for a 44mm replacement started with a
steel 590 (a baby Egizioni?). Later I also bought a titanium 562, simple and with sandwich dial. Quite happy with both.
A return to the roots is beyond-necessary at this point.
My local boutique shuttered down a week ago, because of poor sales (which is understandable since all they stocked was submersibles and due’s).
To me, the ideal PAM is my 384, a 233, your 372 or (maybe) a bronzo.
