Having now looked more carefully - Duh! - I realise the edge of the 'second case-back' IS visible in the original photo above.
I have a manual predecessor of the 853, the 83. Mine was sold in Stockholm on 18 December 1945. I like to think it was a Christmas present, also bought to celebrate the end of WWII.
