The new Rolex green box looks very nice, i like the deeper patterned waves on the top. The Land-Dweller is lovely, comfy, wraps reeeeeally nicely on the wrist, and Rolex reeeeeeally put in great effort into movement decoration. The LD looks the part of high(er)-horology and, imho, now directly competes with the 1970s Trilogy Marketing Brands by the other mainstream industrialized manufacturers. As us longtimers in horology know, the industrialization / decoration possibilities have come a long way since the 1970s.
Maybe we're at a point where basic hand decoration versus machine for this level of finishing is about the same ????
Rolex has upped their movement and now with display back, and I see this is a shot across the bow of...... and in 2026 Rolex looks to be solid competition to not only the typical three, the other industrialized conglomerates too.
The new escapement is mind-boggling. When Rolex decides to juke it up to 10Hz for the new Daytona in 2029, then she'll really fly. Wonder if Rolex tested the escapement at 20Hz or higher.
Ya know. gotta say, when looking at the display back of the Rolex Land-Dweller, even directly next to my wife's PP WT, Rolex's LD might actually look a bit nicer. Call it a coin toss. Then again, the gold bits around the jewels of the Rolex.... Land-Dweller movement does hold its own.
With W&W only a few short weeks away, I wonder when the GMT and others will incorporate this new escapement and have a display back. The new Rolex movement surely looks the part.
The dial is quite the fun show, and depending on lighting, can be subtle... or a bit more.
Same timepiece, different lighting.... and please go see the LD for yourself and compare it to your Richemont brands and others as well.
Note: The bracelet does run slightly 'small', thus i didn't need to remove a link.
