Since it has been a long time we didn't speak of this watch, and that I didn't wear it...

The good thing with these modern Rolexes is that you have an immediate perception of their quality.

Put one on your wrist, you will feel what I mean.

As for the Yacht Master, you know the story. I bought mine in 2000, sold it in 2004, and re bought it in 2008.

Which means that I loved and still love it a lot.

Its platinum grained dial, its heavy weight, and these red touches make all the charm of this watch.

What's not to love!



I should also try the latest blue dialed version.... As I am thinking about making the pair...

I think think is the most underrated of modern sports watches! I was looking at the new blue dial in my AD last week.

...I especially like blue-dialled watches.  I had planned the blue YM to be a replacement for my older grey YM.  After 3 months I haven't yet brought myself to sell the old one.  The blue version is scarily accurate, whereas the old one is more or less consistent at +5 seconds a day, but when I wear it the blue dial with maxi markers seems a bit garish compared with the restrained elegance of the old grey platinum dial.  If I end up keeping both it will be quite a surprise to me and not part of the original plan.

I hear you on the blue YM. Will have to pay more time to see it in the lfesh, and to try it.

Up until a year ago I never much liked the YM because of the illfitting bracelet endpieces and the lack of color on the dial.

However, I have some nice pics of the pt YM in sunlight which I could not really forget.

When the refreshed YM arrived last year I had a closer look once it hit the shops. I was shocked! Today I feel that the YM is the most comfortable sports Rolex with turning bezel. Its classic case size together with all the functional advantages of the new blue lume and the new bracelet make it shockingly good.

I guess I will have to get one some time, most likely with the blue dial.

In the meantime, however, I cannot get this sapphire beast off my wrist: my first 16760 - what an amazingly good wearing GMT! And what a patina!

Let's see who, between you and me, will get the blue dial first. I still have to get a confirmation in the real world, but I like it a lot.

As for the GMT 16760, I am on the hunt for a nice Fat Lady, too...

I bought a nice, early "No DATE" 16760 GMT!  Be sure to look for the first year of production (1983-4) with this "no DATE" dial.  And, the correct fat-font serif Coke insert.  As much as I liked the monochromatic look of the YM and other features, the GMT is a true "daily driver" with some genuine intrigue.  Best, Ken in NYC

I think it is quite special in that it "anticipated" some later Rolex design cues well before it's time.  Also, as you say, the weight, interesting combination of materials and very comfortable fit.  In fact, I just sold my second one last month.  Why?  I don't recall.  I'm sure I will own it again some day...when it is more costly!  Best, Ken in NYC

The YM is one of these watches you full appreciate once it is gone...

At least, that is what happened to me, but I am pretty confident in the fact that I am not alone in this case.
