Philippe Dufour has publicly praised the Credor Eichi, which surprised many collectors because Dufour is often considered one of the most demanding authorities on hand finishing.
A commonly cited quote from him (from interviews and collector discussions around watch fairs) is:
“For the price, the Credor Eichi is probably the best finished watch in the world.”
In another comment about the watch’s movement finishing, he said:
“The finishing on the Eichi is at the same level as the very best Swiss watches.”
This old Hodinkee article does a nice job comparing the finishing on the Eichi II vs Philippe Dufour vs Laurent Ferrier https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/with-the-seiko-eichi-ii-versus-dufour-and-ferrier
I've liked this passage from that article. My feelings are similar.

"If the Eichi presents a modern, minimalist interpretation of movement finishing, Dufour spins an eloquent story of fine traditional watchmaking and Laurent Ferrier builds upon it an architectural vision with cleaner lines. In automobile analogies, perhaps Tesla Model S, Bugatti Atlantic, and Lamborghini Countach might fit the bill."
I have the blue dial Eichi II. It’s a little less austere than the white. I myself love the simplicity paired with high level of finishing. Not the greatest pictures but you get the gist.
This was my thinking when I bought mine. The high-end Swiss-made independents are impossible to get - and given the exchange rate + taxes are almost all nearing 100k Euros which is outside my comfort zone.

Of course Credor is not an independent but the Micro Artist Studio that makes these Eichi II’s is no more than 10 of the highest-skilled watchmakers within the entire Seiko group put together in a room dedicating their time to hand-painting dials and very fine movement finishing, so their scale and output is much smaller than many of the Swiss indies. Seiko doesn’t really advertise or market these watches and they are near-impossible to get outside Japan so there’s zero insta-hype. Tim Mosso recently did a fantastic vs with the FPJ CB which I must have rewatched 10 times before I bit the bullet: www.youtube.com
