Thank you my friend..

I think your summary of thoughts echo mine as well. Something about the case design that I find so appealing. Of course, one can wish for other hypothetical add ons ie applied hour markers/applied breguet numerals...but its time I get something that doesn

Choosing a calatrava....

Its never easy to choose or pick 1, as there are just so many references! I guess the way to go about it is to follow a flow chart approach, and be cognisant of the fact that not every detail you want, is carried by a single referrence. The 3796dj, althou

Thanks Mike!

There's a ton of references with Patek...and thats why I love this blog, taking cues from many enthusiasts knowledge. Like a flow chart actually...till you find something you like. So I have this in my mind...around 33 to 36mm, no date window, ideally wit

Patek 3796dj vs 5196j..which would be the choice for a first calatrava?

I must say the hobnail effect on the 3796dj looks gorgeous...but how would I feel about a 30.5/ 31mm case diameter against the 37mm of the 5196. My wrist is around 16cm, and I guess trying both on would be the only way of knowing. Have any of you had the

Like you, Rishi, I've never really warmed up

to the Reverso: for whatever reason, it doesn't fully speak to me and I have the feeling that JLC has made way too many variants over the year. As fast as as this particular vintage piece is concerned, I love many things about it, but I have to say that I

What a beauty this vintage piece is Emmanuel...

I am so drawn towards shaped watches from Patek. I agree with you Emmanuel, the cartier and, for me also most reversos, lack the grace ,curve and finase showed by the Gondolo series. Now this vintage piece has a oval shaped minute track , exploding numera

I have 2 in mind.....5124g and the 5098r

Being both gondolos, both with shaped movement (2521 rec), but one more dressy, the other more daily in my eyes...one with printed numerals and 1 applied ..but both breguet styled. Just find the shapes of both complement each other .. Rishi

Anticipating a future encounter

If all goes according to plan, I should be able to see the Patek Philippe ref. 5101P in person for the first time next month . This prospect excites me because this reference, with its hidden tourbillon , seems fascinating . The photo below gives me a tin

Dear Rishi,

First, the 5124 looks really wonderful and great on your wrist! The architectural shape of this piece is very appealing and the black Breguet numerals and leaf hands over the salmon dial are both modern and traditional. Then, I also love to see the 5124 s

Made my choice...5124g it is!

Thank you to all of you my friends, who gave me your thoughts. In the end, I went with the piece which I felt represented something unique in my watch collection, plus pairs well with my 5098r. I have to admit, price and affordability is also key. Its my
