Gordon thank you for your extremely interesting and scholarly presentation on Cubitus, including an historical perspective that makes

Cubitus seem not so surprising after all. I found it particularly illuminating how Aquanaut, Neptune, even Sculpture and now Cubitus reflect a decades long effort by Patek to create offshoots and alternatives to Nautilus. (Reminds me a bit of a decades ol

I always smile when I see this reference 5712

I always smile when I see this reference. It's the Nautilus that I would pick (If I were to pick from the pile) But it's also the one that I can never carry well because of my small wrist. Nice picture ! Really a pleasure to see 5712 worn out on a adventu

The question should be how is 5712 set apart....

How is 5712 not significant ? The group of complication (Date + moon phase + power reserve only), often referred to as Petite Complication was once was built on Calatravas. The 5015, 5054 and 5055 once had these groups of complications. Now no longer, as

I understand perfectly

As one who owns the Calatrava with these set of complications. The last of its iterations. Just the bare essentials: seconds, dates, power reserve and moon phase. Discontinuing these with the 5055 elevated the Calatrava and the Nautilus at the same time.

Something horrible you should know

In china, a lot of people decontruct some pp, remove their movements and for making fake nautilus and aquanaut. These fake watches are very difficult to spot because they have real movement. At the beginning, people only decontruct some old ref like 5117,

10-year anniversary - Nautilus 5712

It has been ten years...the watch has brought me so much happiness and satisfaction. It still has the old Seal of Geneva, it still has the bracelet with screws, it still has the old dial printing with "Patek Philippe" and "Geneve" printed on two different

Patek 5055G - A Few Comments

The 5055G is a black dial, white gold case Calatrava with Petite Complications: Date, Moon Phase, Winding Reserve. The 5055G is a bit controversial...some admire its asymmetry while others shun it. Now more than a decade since the 5055 was offered, a vari

Story

Dear Whit and Mark, Thank you for your feedback. Let me explain the story of this decision: after spending time in second-hand reseller in HK two weeks ago (Mongkok, TST, Central..) I found the 5015R timepiece and I immediately liked it: even if I don't l

The popularity with petite complications

In the Nautilus 3712 and 5712 is so resounding. Prior to that, there were the 5054 and 5055 which were essentially the same complications in the calatrava case. Do people like the petite complications in 5054 and 5055 back then ? Why or why not ?
