Been thinking about how differently collectors talk about the steel Daytona depending on which generation they came up in. The 116520 introduced the Calibre 4130 in 2000 - column-wheel, vertical clutch, entirely in-house. That was the real turning point.

John Mayer has a history of being so thirsty to have a watch named after him all-a Paul Newman whose Daytonas are affectionately named after. That being said one cannot deny the John Mayer had a major influence on the second hand prices of the watch. All

Interesting the cover photo changes from 116508 to newer version when clicked into post…

I own the 116508 and love how the deep, emerald green looks with red rings around the sub dials. Sometimes it looks black and when light hits, it lit up. Green is the color of the brand and Daytona models are iconic, so I love it not for the nick name but
