I like them both (thank goodness the ARCAP rotor is no-longer painted gold...).
Of the two, I prefer the original with the blue dial.
But I'd buy neither of them - and I've been given the opportunity to do so. Like others have perhaps hinted at here, I just can't sufficiently reconcile Lange making a sports watch. They didn't need to in my view - it's a "me too" move and it just doesn't fit the marque.
However, were an offer of an Odysseus Chronograph to have come my way (it didn't), I would've overcome my concerns and just said "Ja, bitte!". That is a stone-cold gorgeous watch that leverages both Lange's chronograph provenance with its black dial, and also the brand's DNA with its new movement.
White gold or steel ?

The grey is attractive
But it’s the blue for me here, just because I prefer the color . The bonus is the alternating textures on the blue dial 👌🏻
Taking personal preference for dial color out of it...

but with a different strap. But I also have to agree with G07 that I don’t love this watch. I have never liked the dial layout and felt that Lange, which basically makes all their watches in precious metal, jumped on the steel sports watch with integrated...

I don’t know what the dial design is called but it looks incredible.
It's inspired by the iris of an eagle. So it's called iris pattern, I think.

I’ve seen steel, white gold and titanium (and the chrono)
but only behind a display window at W&W two years ago. So I haven’t been able to try one on unfortunately.
Based upon dials, I agree with you about the WG.
However I have never gotten my eyes around to this watch on a strap. I’m not fully there on the bracelet either, but it makes far more sense to me aesthetically. And so, I would like the grey dial on a bracelet please !

Steel for me
I could only get one and debated the two because it would be on the secondary market. In the end, I realized I wanted the bracelet, the blue dial, and I didn’t need another sports watch with different strap options. No regrets but both are beautiful ...
If I had to pick one without the stupid AD "games" and "allocations" then I'd go with the white gold too because for some reason it trades for a lot less than the SS lol
I have the SS coming, but kind of by luck that the new sales director was helpful.
