Great report, Gary!
Let me start off by saying that I am wearing my DS right now.
Something that confuses me is
<< 6. "Fly-past" action on the rattrapante hands -- if you watch carefully, you can see them zap past the main hands before swinging back and locking into place. Lots of fun to watch, and likely reduces wear and tear on the movement. >>
I notice nothing of the kind, nor any jumps when starting, stopping or resetting either the chrono or the retro.
a little while later --- Hmmm, maybe I did detect a bit of that with the retro minute hand, but not with the retro seconds.
Also, my subdials appear silver, with no trace of yellow or yellowing. Did yours get oxydized in some manner? That could show up by comparing the rim to the face of the dials - if it appears brighter, for instance.
Where we most differ - I happen to the love the blue produced by the AR coating, which reminds me of some optical lenses!
What I would prefer is a greater color contrast on the chrono and retro second hands, since both functions can often be used interchangeably.
Let me in no way detract from your full enjoyment of this unique and superlative chronograph! You are most lucky, as am I, to have found one at all - and in platinum !!!
If the sky is the limit, then I have touched heaven.
Regards - and thanks for all the photos,
amerix
