You brought up a lot of points...
I agree with 98% of all the things you like.
I agree with about 50% of the things you are not sure you like so much.
And I agree with all of the points you've raised to why you don't love the watch except the 3HZ movement part. The 3HZ movement is a nice classic slow beat. Keep in mind, the bigger the balance wheel, the slower the beat, but the more stable it is. I prefer slower but more stable balance wheels as opposed to faster but smaller balance wheels. Definitely prefer a more classic approach to watchmaking. And is the blue anti-reflective coating that bad?
Thank you for the intuitive thoughts GaryG! Still very much looking forward to meeting your new Double Split in person!

Excellent points, FX

I was ignoring the practicality (even thicker case) when I was fantasizing about adding the big date! I agree with you that this should not just be a "big Datograph" -- it's just that I find myself using the date function on my watches more and more these...
Love it!

First of all, congrats Gary on the catch! Didn't know you got yourself one, and with it being discontinued, all the more right! Thanks for the bravo photos, always soo good and especially when you are taking the DS, it becomes even more heavenly! All your ...
Appreciate it, Stephen!

It's funny -- when I sit down to write one of these posts on a new watch, it seems that there will be nothing much to say -- then, as I start building the list, it seems to go on and on! The Lange tang buckle is a good example of this -- it's easy to let ...
Thanks -- I'm enjoying it!

There aren't too many negatives that I could find! Sometimes it's best to put one's reservations out in public rather than trying to convince yourself that they don't exist, I suppose. Even now as I'm looking at the dial I find that I'm liking the "yellow...
Wonderful Gary, as usual

Comprehensive post, with fabulous pics to boot. I have learned a lot about the details of the DS from your observations. This is one to bookmark. As I have said, this is THE chrono. And I know first-hand it looks great on your wrist (and mine.....). Congr...
Thanks, Sidney

It is funny -- the DS looks a lot bigger side by side, but in isolation it looks perfectly "correct" in size on the wrist, as does the Dato. A real tribute to Lange's ability to build pieces that have the right proportions. I had the same impression when ...
Oddly enough, I like it

...and not just in the sense of "you get used to it" like living near the elevated train tracks. The watch sits so well on my wrist that it doesn't flop around when I move -- as a result, all I get is a feeling of real solidity. There is a bit of "getting...
Great report, Gary!

Let me start off by saying that I am wearing my DS right now. Something that confuses me is < 6. "Fly-past" action on the rattrapante hands -- if you watch carefully, you can see them zap past the main hands before swinging back and locking into place. Lo...
Hmm -- made me look!
By: Gary G : August 15th, 2011-07:11
The "swing-past" phenomenon seems particularly in evidence when the main chrono hands are still running -- it looks as if the rattrapante hands go past the main hands, and then quickly settle into place. Less visible when the main chrono has been stopped....
As always, thanks!

Appreciate your weighing in here. I wore the DS again today, and the heat and humidity of Seoul (and mandated reductions in air conditioning to save energy) finally led me to roll up the sleeves on my dress shirt (a once-a-decade occurrance, if that). Spe...
