I'm confident that the design team considered enough variants and they know what we're doing. In a court of law, they're probably considered "watch design expert witnesses." And in a court of law, we might not be considered "expert witnesses." We may have our opinion, but a layman's opinion is superseded by an expert's opinion. That being said, I don't disagree with you. You could be right and your iteration might look better to OUR eyes.

The design team definitely made several mock ups of the dial and with different cut off styles. And then evaluated which one looked best in their eyes. They also have prescribed internal policies on the cutoffs too - not all of these rules are set in ston...
You would think by simply downsizing the font you could have avoided the cut-off 11 - move the 1 up and to the left a bit and you’re done.
Does make you wonder why this is so difficult. It’s not the first watch with four registers/subdials on horizontal and vertical axis. Interesting.

I ordered the Chopard with the salmon dial and I'm still wondering what color clothes I'm going to wear with it. I've got so many blue dialed watches but at least those I don't worry about from a styling perspective.

Lange watches are often thicker due to their German architecture. The 3/4 plate alone adds almost a mm in height on the movement. But the design adds a lot of rigidity which translates to accuracy.

That's what any other high end brand would charge for this kind of a watch. Maybe even slightly more than that actually. When you're paying $200K for a perpetual calendar chronograph with a non rattrapante, this is what I'd expect to be charged for a ratt...
