and to me it is much more than an entry level watch.
FX you wrote "an old entry level" - somehow provocative, isn´t it?
What else does someone need in a watch?
Simple watches like this have been our parents/grandparents treasures in the past.
Well, not from ALS (in these days), but from the best houses (PP, VC, Omega, ...).
They all did a great job for most occassions and lots of them are still alive.
1815 (old) - a few years ago, there have been dithyrambs about the watch and at least one
(I/we know) has had them all - for a good reason
And isn´t it somewhat quit regarding the new one? For sure it is not, because it is a bad watch.
I applaud ALS for doing the same kind of incredible job in each watch from their collection.
No exceptions. Only I wished say would still offer something like this. Of course there
is a new 1815, but to be honest the price tag is different.
They do it for good reasons, for sure, but thinking back a few years ago it helped me a lot
to jump in to the wonderful world of ALS - a classic piece of Haute Horlogerie with a reasonable price tag.
Lots of brands try to do the most complicated, most special, most .. watches,
but honestly I think it is much more chalenging to offer a perfectly done simple watch
with a reasonable price tag in these days.
Two questiones come to my mind:
