A titanium Grande Sonnerie Carillon Minute Repeater
This Audemars Piguet titanium Grande Sonnerie Carillon Minute repeater ref. 25825Ti, of which the present watch is No. 1, was introduced in 1997 as part of the one hundredth anniversary Jules Audemars collection made in honour of the company’s founder.
The two-tone dial and lumed hands and numerals give a very unique, somehow vintage, look.
The carillon mechanism strikes the hours and then the quarters in different tones with three hammers and three different gongs. The button placed at 10 o'clock allows the repeater to be activated on demand whenever required.
The watch measures 39 mm and is powered by caliber 2980.

The only thing I don't really abide is the lume! There are Shaeffer examples as well with lume and I would posit (as others have before me) that perhaps lume on a minute repeater is obselete. After all, what better way to disturb someone in the middle of ...

And I also like the Jules Audemars case very much. As for lume, I certainly wouldn't expect it on a Minute repeater, but the charm of tritium patina works for me, here: it gives the watch a very special vintage charm. Best regards, Emmanuel

A simple looking watch with a top top complication. I love that it (can) strikes the time in passing automatically. I have an UN Hourstriker (=Petite Sonnerie?) and happy to be reminded by it at each half hour interval.
As far as I know,
the Petite Sonnerie complication chimes the hours only when the full hours pass and, for the remaining three quarters of an hour, it only chimes the corresponding number of quarters. Whereas the Grande Sonnerie complication rings at the passage of each qu...
