Audemars Piguet

The Audemars Piguet box set

AP certainly has provided some amazing box sets over the years to accompany their Limited Edition timepieces.  But we don't often discuss the box provided with standard collection pieces - regular Royal Oaks, Offshores, etc.

I have thought to post on this topic for some time, and as my recently received 15202 was supplied in AP's updated box, it is a good time to share.

For years, AP's standard outer cardboard box has been green and the inner wood box has been a dark rosewood color.  In 2012, the company logo was updated, and now has "Le Brassus" printed below the "Audemars Piguet" name.  Previously, "Le maitre de l'horlogerie depuis 1875" appeared.

As it translated to the wooden box, the new set is now a dark green color with the updated logo screened in gold.  As before, the box has a beautiful lacquered finish.

It is really an attractive color and feels very fresh.  The push button for the box lid and hinges are in brass to match the gold screening.

A very cool design touch to the bottom of the box is the clipped angle.  I thought my photo captured it; I'll update with another.  I always applaud AP for attention to detail, and this new design is in line with AP's new boutique vernacular.  When you visit a boutique that has the new design treatment, like the one in Bal Harbour FL, you will notice angles abound - with the counters, the watch trays, etc.  Now the individual watch boxes employ the same detail.

Here a closeup of the revised logo.  Le Brassus of course the village in the VallĂ©e de Joux where the Audemars Piguet manufacture is located.

The inside of the box has also been updated, and is now black in color.  The edges of the box bottom and lid are flat black, and the rest is lined with a leather like material.  The AP logo again appears on the inside of the lid.

Not to be overlooked is the new watch pillow.  I can't tell you how many times over the years I have gone to place a clasp strap watch on the pillow for storage or shipment, and it will not fit after having been adjusted to my wrist size.  Usually, I just place the watch in the opening and set the pillow elsewhere.  Well, these new notches in the pillow itself allow it to collapse in size so that a smaller diameter bracelet or strap can easily be fit over the pillow.  A minor detail, but one I wish every watch came with.

Of course, the ultimate treasure will always be what comes inside of the box smile  Still, when spending a lot of money on a watch, it is very reasonable to expect an appropriate box set.  AP certainly provides that in my opinion.  And with the revisions added to this current set, you get something unique to AP that is certainly attractive enough to set atop a dresser or table.  When you lift the outer cardboard box off, peel back the foam layer, and see the beautiful lacquered green wood and AP logo, you know you are about to see something incredibly special inside.

Just another way in which AP captures and enhances your emotions and ownership experience.
