A friend and I were at...
...an Italian car day and we were looking at a few Countachs.
The LP500s and the ones with the >5litre V12 and the even more crazy side skirts, and other bits and pieces.
While not very enthusiastic about them, we definitely agreed that they served their purpose well - to look completely outrageous (as you put it: "aggressive" and "dazzle")....And after all, the car was around for 15 years, so they were always going to get that treatment during the tasteful 1980s.
But then an LP400 rolled in and spoiled it all...that is just a great looking vehicle. Adding flares to them just destroys that rear wheel-arch....

Indeed ED ! The Countach was actually so special it blew everybody's mind ... it became an instant icon more than any other car ever produced ... thanks to the outrageous shape !

.. it really couldn't be compared to a diamond i think :-) ... the 'lines' hmm hmmm on this car will never ever again be outclassed by any other car to come ....
It was futuristic ...
.. and now it's a classic futuristic car ... would fit perfectly in a post-modem Woody Allen movie ... with Woody Allen driving it on an unknown planet in the far future :-) ...

Certainly for those days, but in my opinion the real raging Lambo bull is the Murcielago, designed by our own Luc00 !!!

.. during the nineties we all laughed when we saw the Italian from around the corner driving his Countach, making all kinds of jokes about the 'bad' quality of his car .... oh boy, little did we know .... At a certain point a lot of us found this car to b...

needless to say that countach is a cornerstone in car history and a clear design rupture after the miura. From a pure design perspective it is very interesting indeed but not my cup of tea.

That is overly cruel, but once the fibreglass flares, wings and fascias started being added on...the amazing LP400 shape was ruined. Imagine a Miura wth those add-ons...

Hi Ben, i just googled LP-400 pictures .... . No matter how i like this 'modern' Countach with the add-ons etc ... the original LP400 shape is indeed an incredible masterpiece ... BUT ... the newer version actually could be seen a a 'new' Countach, a diff...

.. mainly because no other car has been like this one ... except a few later Lambo's (a bit) ....
perhaps the first kind of supercar
in the sense of being so much more than just performance. It is showing off, it divides opinions, it is passion. Other cars have followed. Hence the vision statement. br, Dirk

All the above you say is soo true ... but all of the above together has never been equalized by another car i think ... . We can easily say the Countach is something special .... it's ... see the comment under here from Emil ..... :-)

In a beautiful city, with beautiful people, a man wearing sunglasses mutters in awe, the word "countach." A beautiful woman and a beautiful Lamborghini car are both in this man's line of sight. Imagine the hilarious confusion and possibilities...
