Acid rain and road grime is harsh on paint, so washes are often more important than wax. The main thing is to protect the clear topcoat.
If you live in a hot clime, wax is very important.
Black is the worst color you could ever pick. I speak from years of owning black cars (we are masochists). Just spent last Sunday doing the Audi and by Monday, you could barely tell.
