Rules like i only collect Patek Philipe watches;
I do only wear vintage chronographs.
When i collect all submariners, i go for golden day dates.
When i’ve got 10 independents, i want to have a special and rare hand wound A Lange and Sohne etc.

My kitchen, to use this metaphor to see the ingredients.
7 rules, 7 ways, 7 holy fires, 7 watch desires.
Swiss
Old- all must have a history the company starts before 1900.
A central second hand.
A safire case back. (easy with a loupe enjoy the movement)
No unnecessary complications, because there are better methods.
Quartz is allowed.
And no watches which are smaller than 39mm in case size.

The outcome is i got always a watch which is satisfying.
Not on the list of rules, i look if lugs are quite well for future strap changes will be no horror stories.

Other than rules, i set up a collecting guide.

Work, dinner, daily, Free time, trade, rare watch, date watch,
special materials, or just a watch, reserve watches.

Reserve watch, explained.
When bringing my work watch for a service, i need a back up work watch. This i do because i want always wear a watch which fits comfortable on my wrist.

Why I think the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe is the better choice

The larger case size of 43.6 might throw some people off but the watch is well proportioned and wears comfortably on the wrist. The larger case size also allows for a larger dial which makes this watch highly legible in both bright and low light condition...

the issues you mentioned with the normal strap. I’ve been using it without any problems fir over 5 years now and it wears very comfortable

I would not change the Nato strap. The Sedna gold hardware makes it unique. I have thought of getting this watch and seeing it on your wrist makes me want it even more! For me, there is no comparison, that BP over the Rolex every day. 👍

When my brother saw the watch he didn’t notice there was a date window until he took a 2nd glance. I guess they did a good job with color matching the date disc with the dial.
