Chose between the two.
Regarding to my buying rules, Blancpain would be my choice.
Rolex at the other hand, and the blue smurf is hard for me to skip, it is a submariner i like very. The same with the Hulk 116610LV, a Explorer 2 and Milgauss GV.
A date just is to simply for me, i want always a more special model which is more rare.
No blancpain AD in your country, time for the Swatch group to open a boutique in your country.
Why I think the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe is the better choice
The larger case size of 43.6 might throw some people off but the watch is well proportioned and wears comfortably on the wrist. The larger case size also allows for a larger dial which makes this watch highly legible in both bright and low light condition...

the issues you mentioned with the normal strap. I’ve been using it without any problems fir over 5 years now and it wears very comfortable

I would not change the Nato strap. The Sedna gold hardware makes it unique. I have thought of getting this watch and seeing it on your wrist makes me want it even more! For me, there is no comparison, that BP over the Rolex every day. 👍

I would prefer the date window at 3:00 where it is more symmetrical.
When my brother saw the watch he didn’t notice there was a date window until he took a 2nd glance. I guess they did a good job with color matching the date disc with the dial.

Funny you mentioned buying rules. I guess we all have our own to put reason into purchasing a new time piece or to otherwise turn down a deal. I try to collect watches in pairs like these 2 dive watches.

Not exactly apples to apples because of the blue dial...
But even if the Rolex dial were black the Blancpain is (in gold) a more versatile out of the water watch and can be worn in more formal situations but still perform as a diver.
I have the blancpain in the gold and love it
But I have the rubber backed fabric strap and really enjoy it. It would be a tough call against the yg blue dial submariner though
