Breguet

I went to try on the Breguet Classique Souscrition ref. 2025BH/28/9W6 with my L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 (ref. 161977-5001 ), a watch that shares some similarities with it: enamel dial , single hand (but not 12-hour display, as there's a jump hour) and color...  

As for the single hand providing a broader and more soothing way of measuring time: this is why the single hand watches are sometimes mistakenly referred to as 'philosophers' watches'! The mistake, of course, is not about the experience of the watch but a...

I flew all the way to Singapore to try on the Breguet and was most disappointed. It was too large for my wrist even with the curved lugs and the "Breguet gold' did not gel with my skin tone. In addition, as you correctly state, the 10.8mm is too thick for...

Too much dial.. although beautiful it is just too empty..

my feeling was that the size issue came from the case, not the dial. But you might have a point. Best, Emmanuel

But there's really something about the case itself (a bit too large, a bit too thick) and the way it sits on the wrist.

By the way, I love the IWC Portugieser, but always had the problem with the size as well. With the “new” 40 mm Portugieser version, I thought I would have found a Portugieser for me. But it wasn’t the case. It weared exactly as the Sousciption wears at yo... 

as 40.4 x 12.4 mm, even on paper, seems a bit chunky for a simple three hander, even if the movement is automatic (the rotor adds extra thickness of course). At least, Breguet can argue that the thickness allows for a wonderful movement, which is true. Be... 

Must say -- miss the straight, soldered lugs and the fluted sides; love the raw pinion. Wonderful dial...

But the watch, however truly beautiful, wears too large on my wrist. So, I'll be very happy with my L.U.C. Best, Emmanuel

Even side by side the Breguet looks so much bigger than the Chopard, and Breguets lugs are always long so for classical pieces they should go with 38mm instead of 40 imho, but again there are so many large wristed people, the 10.8mm height would not bothe...

In person I loved the dial (so did my wife) and the movement was more interesting to me than most of the Traditions but even as I appreciated Breguet rolling the lugs more than the old Classique lugs, it was also too large for my wrist I also noted that a... 

I felt exactly the same concerning the 'bulge" of the case back. So, definitely not a reference for smaller wrists. Fortunately, reading the time on a jump hour single hander isn't a problem, but what you said made me lough and I certainly understand how ... 

...and could probably pull it off, but it is so dressy that I'd prefer it at 38x10 (or less thick). I love the gold color and the single hand is quirky enough to appeal to me. Maybe they will size it down some day...

I find them both absolutely beautiful. I was a little unsure about the single hand on the Breguet when I first saw it, but now I am 100% sure that I love it. Your LUC is absolutely stunning. I would love to have one one day 😁

Looks like many of us appreciate your trial and report. Sorry the sizing isn't ideal, but I really think Breguet is on the right track with the shaping of those lugs. Shorter, and with compound curves, this speaks elegance (and practicality) to me. Hopefu...
