I am not a super fan of these so-called " luxury sports watches ", and, among them, the Nautilus or the Royal Oak, with a preference for the Royal Oak, though. Same for the Vacheron 222. My favorite, till now, was the Girard Perregaux Laureato. As for the...
Stunning dial, this is the star of the show for me, yes, better with no date. I never noticed the circle around the sub dial until you pointed it out . Better without in my option, but not a reason to skip all together. The price is steep, if I was to mov...
I definitely am close to pulling the trigger. For me, I am waiting/hoping for a micro adjustment on the clasp. It would drive me crazy otherwise. Also, I'm not too thrilled on adding another steel bracelet watch, I'd prefer something fun like Ti..and agre...
38-39 mm would suit many more wrist. Luckily, the 8 mm thinness help a lot. I agree that any sport integrated bracelet watch should have maximum thickness of 9.5 mm to be qualified as "true chic and luxury sport watch". Anything beyond 10 mm shows not eno...
When the AE was first released it did not attract my attention as much as other releases. But since the XPS and other limited variants I had since changed my mind, appreciate them much more, and find them to be remarkable pieces and unique in their own ri...
I ordered through my AD and should be getting close. My only dislike is the bracelet aesthetic. I understand the design intent, but I don't like it. The polish, and the raised profile. I have what I think is a very solid idea to fix it. I need to make a s...
My personal opinion: this watch is a stunner and a big hit! The price doesn't shock me at all compared to what some competitors dare to charge for much less. Personally, the date windows on the sister models don't bother me that much because they are in t...
What I am not thrilled about: 1. Numerals 2. Small seconda hand. Would prefer central seconds or no seconds at all. Dont get the small seconds approach for such piece
Even though I share some of your enthusiasm, I will personally not pull the trigger on this one, nor on the 1860, both of which I have tried on at W&W where they were presented to me by the late and great Jose Garcia. Let me explain precisely why. 1/ ...
These are the best pictures of that watch and dial that I have seen on the web !! I can understand why others love that watch so much; design language being however very subjective I have to admit that the AE does not really "speak" to me.
It resembles my feelings - it is 99% tempting but still not an immediate purchase for me. Non adjustable bracelet or clasp is for me the primary point at this price stage with this kind of bracelet - hey, it’s not a president! I cannot understand how a ma...
... and ended up with the blue faced one. I handled the first ever XPS in the London boutique a few weeks ago, and it's definitely different to the regular one, but unlike you, I think some of the changes aren't entirely for the better. The loss of a mm o...
I believe it goes without saying that I’m a huge fan of this spectacular piece. With no prior purchase history, I’m especially shocked that I was fortunate to obtain one, which I’m wearing today: 1. Just to add to your review, the dial can change dependin...
For a fella who is not a tremendous fan of Genta-esque, integrated bracelet, sports watches, you rather liked this watch! The killer here is the movement. This is a wonderful movement. There is so much inner beauty here. And the Chopard 96 movement is not...
1. This dial. The eagle's iris. I still find it a little "strange." And I'm not crazy about it. It's also stamped. And I think the indices and hands are made of steel (not gold). 2. This bracelet is beautifully constructed, expecially from that side profi...
GP Laureato, and it picked up scratches like there is no tomorrow. So I wouldn’t really fault Chopard’s polished center links. But for some reason I feel the overall design is more industrial and less refined than RO or Nautilus. Again I am only talking a...
...of wearing the alpine eagle XPS more or less continuously. and i still don't know completely how i feel about it. here are a few thoughts. the contrast of the pink dial and the white metal hands and indices (white gold?) is strikingly beautiful and giv...
the more i look at my AE XPS the more i get convinced that the watch gains a lot of its distinctive estethics from the height of the hour markers, which makes the dial really three dimensional .
It is almost perfect. There are basically 2 drawbacks: 1) central link that will eventually scratch; 2) 1mm too big in diameter. Don’t know how good the links bracelet are connected though.
I was able to touch other alpine eagles. But I was disappointed with their movement finishing. Salmon one seems to have a great movement so this drawback is eliminated.
